The Down Royal Winter Festival begins today (Friday) at the Maze course in Lisburn.

And this year for the first since the pandemic struck, organisers are welcoming back spectators with pre-covid crowds expected to attend over the two days of racing.

Down Royal Chief Executive, Emma Meehan said: “There has been much anticipation around the return of our much-loved Ladbrokes Festival of Racing. It is the highlight of our racing calendar and with the venue and the track both in tip top condition, it promises to be a superb day out for all.

“It is no less competitive away from the race track with the ‘Best Dressed Lady Competition’ also taking place on Saturday 30th October, when frocks, fascinators, heels and hats will be the order of the day.

“The spectacle of Ladies Day has been very much missed over the past two years and with a prize package worth over £4,000 it’s certain to bring an extra element of colour to an already prestigious day of horse racing."
