Carrick to play Ards for Premiership spot as Ports lose out
Niall Currie's side win pre-play-offs tie
Carrick Rangers are a step closer today (Wed) to a return to top-flight football.
Niall Currie’s side beat Portadown 2-0 last night to book their place in a promotion/relegation play-off with Ards.
Carrick, who finished second in the Championship behind Larne, netted twice in the final 20 minutes to win the pre-play-off encounter at Taylor's Avenue.
They'll now face Warren Feeney's side over two legs - this Friday and next Monday.
Currie, who lives in Portadown and managed his boyhood club for a 14-month spell in 2017-18, says his side have nothing to lose in the play-offs.
And he has promised to “give it a real go”.
Meanwhile, in the Championship-Premier Intermediate League play-off first-leg PSNI thrashed Annagh United 4-1.
