Captain Jonny to steer West Brom ship for new season
Boss says Evans is staying put despite interest from Leicester
Jonny Evans is the news captain of West Bromwich Albion.
The announcement was made on the club’s website and tweeted out today.
Earlier this year, Evans was the subject of a multi-million pound bid by Leicester.
Boss Tony Pulis turned it down but the Foxes came back with another offer.
A short time later Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill sang his defender’s praises and says at a price of £20m Evans was “a bargain”.
But Pulis has dismissed any notion that his prized asset is for sale – and confirmed his captaincy for the season ahead.
