From the Blues to the Bannsiders - two -and-a-half deal for 25 year old
By Aaron O’Neill
The long-running Aaron Burns transfer saga has now ended after the 25 year-old has joined Coleraine from Linfield.
Burns joined the Bannsiders on a two-and-a-half year deal and his Irish League knowledge could prove pivotal as Oran Kearney’s side continue their challenge for league honours.
The attacker scored 91 goals in 273 appearances during a 10 year spell at Windsor Park before being allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Speaking to Downtown Radio & Cool FM, Burns outlined his delight at joining title challengers Coleraine.
“I spoke to Oran a few weeks ago and when he gave me the chance I jumped at it," he said.
“I’d had a few offers from England that I had to get sorted out and the move is good for me and will help my career move forward.”
Coleraine boss Oran Kearney expressed his happiness after landing the signature of the highly sought after 25 year-old.
“Rarely a player of Aaron’s quality becomes available," Kearney said.
“He has been there and done it and has scored important goals throughout his career. “It was great to get the call over the weekend from Aaron who was keen to get the deal done.”
Coleraine are back in league action tonight as they prepare to face Linfield in the Danske Bank Premiership.
A win for the Bannsiders would see them leapfrog Crusaders back to the summit of the table
