Boyce to have scan after being stretchered off playing for Burton
NI striker could face speall on sidelines with knee injury
Liam Boyce will have a scan later today – after suffering a knee injury playing for new club Burton Albion.
The Northern Ireland striker was stretchered off during Burton’s pre-season friendly with Shrewsbury Town.
The early indications were that it was a bad injury which could leave Boyce on the sidelines for some time.
Burton boss Nigel Clough revealed it seemed innocuous - that Boyce had simply put his foot down and just felt something in his knee.
Michael O’Neill will also be sweating on the results of the scan.
In just over a month, Northern Ireland take on San Marino and the Czech Republic in vital back-to-back World Cup qualifying games.
Boyce moved from Ross County in the Scottish Premiership to Burton last month in what was a club record deal for the Championship side.
He has figured in all of Burton’s pre-season friendlies
