Holders Coleraine are through to the quarter-finals of the BetMcLean League Cup - thanks to a 2-0 win over Carrick Rangers.

Elsewhere, though, things were not so straightforward.

Ballymena's Daniel Bramall celebrates

At Seaview the game between Crusaders and Ballymena United went to extra-time.

A Jonte Smith header (main pic) - his second of the night - eventually sealed a 3-2 win for the Sky Blues.

At Mourneview Park in Lurgan, the match between Glenavon and Glentoran went to penalties after extra-time ended 2-2.

Glentoran held their nerve in the spot-kicks to win the shoot-out 5-4 and book their place in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Warrenpoint progressed to the quarters after a 1-0 win over Championship side Loughgall.
