The 2017 Super Cup NI concludes today with the finals of the tournament set to take place at the Ballymena Showgrounds.

In the Junior Section final, American outfit GPS Bayern will take on local lads Co. Antrim. Both sides go into Friday night’s finale having enjoyed success against Rangers and Club NI in last night’s semi-finals.

GPS Bayern looked clinical against Glasgow giants Rangers. A goal either side of half-time was enough for the Americans to seal their place in the blue-ribbon finale. Rangers would have felt a sense of injustice as they had two goalward efforts cleared off the line as well as several chances which were superbly saved by the GPS keeper.

Co. Antrim will fancy their chances in the final as they overcome the impressive Club NI. Antrim have had some stellar displays over the course of the week and will be bidding to lift the trophy in Friday’s final.

Premiership giants Manchester United, failed to reach the Super Cup NI final. The red devils returned to the tournament after two years with many people tipping them as tournament favourites before the start of play on Monday. However, it is not all doom and gloom as United can still lift silverware in the subsidiary Super Cup NI Globe final.

In the Premier section final, Right to Dream take on Mexican side Club America. Right to Dream are previous winners of the Super Cup NI and will have a slight advantage as they will know what it takes to win the tournament. Club America have been one of the stand out performers at this year’s tournament. Some neat football and excellent goals over the course of the week helped them on their way to the final.

Newcastle United and O’Higgins will contest the Premier section Super Cup NI Globe final. Both sides have tasted glory at the event in previous year’s so Friday’s final is set to be a closely fought encounter

As the tournament reaches its climax, it has been an action-packed week of football for players, management and supporters. As the teams enter their final day of football they will be aiming to finish the tournament in style and prepare for the season ahead.
