A decision on the outcome of Sunday's All-Ireland Senior Club Final between Derry side Glen and Kilmacud Crokes could be finalised this weekend.

Glen have submitted a protest to the GAA after their opponents were found to have too many players on the pitch during the dying moments of the match.

The controversy centres around the participation of Crokes forward Dara Mullin. Both Mullin and Paul Mannion were due to be substituted by the Dublin side in stoppage time.

While Mannion was making his way to the sideline, Mullin remained involved in play, defending a last-gasp Glen '45 on the goal-line. It was eventually put wide as Kilmacud ran out 1-11 to 1-9 winners

Kilmacud now have until 11am on Saturday to respond with the GAA Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) aiming to meet within 24 hours of that to make a decision.

The options open to the CCCC are awarding of the game to Glen, a replay or a fine for for Kilmacud Crokes. A replay seems the most likely outcome at this stage. Whatever the decision made at GAA HQ, Kilmacud would have three days to lodge an appeal if they wished to do so.

A replay could take place on the first weekend on February.
