Yellow weather warning in place across Northern Ireland
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain this weekend.
The warning is in place between 00:00 and 23:59 on Sat 3 Sep 2022.
Areas of heavy rain are expected to pulse northwards across much of Northern Ireland and the southwest of Scotland through Saturday, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms.
Rainfall totals of 30 to 40 mm could fall in 2-3 hours in some places with a low risk of 80 to 100 mm in 24 hours, bringing localised flooding and travel disruption.
What to expect
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads
- There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

Today: Any mist or fog patches in rural parts soon clearing then a dry and bright day for most parts, although clouds building for a time with perhaps the odd light shower in the north. Maximum temperature 20 °C.
Tonight: A dry and bright evening with some sunshine then clear spells for a time overnight with clouds increasing later in the night. Minimum temperature 9 °C. ****
Friday: A rather cloudy day with scattered showers developing, these becoming heavy and prolonged in places during the afternoon. Southeasterly winds freshening. Maximum temperature 19 °C. ****
Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Unsettled over the weekend with showery outbreaks of rain, heavy and prolonged at times. Further rain or showers on Monday but also some brighter spells. Windy.****
