One week after Storm Malik and Storm Carrie gripped the UK, chilly weather looks set to continue this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for most of Northern Ireland, from 3am to 10am tomorrow.

Forecasters predict that people may suffer some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and there are likely to be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Advice for safe driving on ice

  • Anticipation and smoothness are key for driving on icy roads
  • Accelerate, brake, steer and change gear as smoothly as possible to reduce the risk of skidding. If you do encounter a skid, steer gently into it
  • Remember braking distances are much longer on icy surfaces
  • A higher gear may be more appropriate to aid grip on packed ice
