The chances of Northern Ireland waking up to a white Christmas are looking increasingly unlikely as forecasters predict mild conditions over the festive period.

Expect a mixture of rain and sunny spells in the coming days with temperatures hovering around 8-10°C

Here's a forecast for what to expect over the new few days in the run up to Christmas.

NORTHERN IRELAND LONG RANGE FORECAST

THURSDAY - A day of showers, these isolated early morning and again from late afternoon. Temperatures reaching 7°C

FRIDAY - Rain early then brightening up in the afternoon. Temperatures reaching 8°C

SATURDAY - Saturday looks bright with some showers. Temperatures reaching 8°C

SUNDAY - Sunday will start cloudy with rain then brightening up. Temperatures reaching 9°C

CHRISTMAS EVE - cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain on Christmas Eve. Temperatures reaching 8°C

CHRISTMAS DAY - A mild day on Christmas Day itself, with increasing amounts of dry weather. Temperatures reaching 10°C
