Yellow warning for heavy rain and '60 mph' gale force winds issued by Met Office
A bleak end to the week weather-wise ☔💧💦
Last updated 8th Nov 2018
It's been a pretty miserable week and the wet and windy conditions look set to continue.
Northern Ireland will be lashed by non-stop rain and gale-force winds over the next 48 hours as the next deep area of low pressure approaches from the Atlantic.
The Met Office has issued two severe weather warnings, the first for heavy rain affecting eastern counties, comes into affect from 16:00 on Thursday lasting through until 04:00 Friday.
Forecasters warn this could lead to localised flooding in parts of the the country.
"A narrow zone of heavy rain is expected to develop over the Irish Sea during Thursday and the early hours of Friday. Eastern parts of Northern Ireland may well see 20 to 40 mm falling in some places. "
A second warning comes into force later on Friday with a further 15-25 mm of rain falling widely, accompanied by strong winds with 50-60 mph gusts possible inland and around exposed coasts.
Motorists are being urged to take care when driving and commuters using public transport may experience delays to bus and rail services.
Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
A stubborn ramped up jet stream sitting above the UK and Ireland is to blame for the recent spell of unsettled weather.
Despite the forecast rain temperatures will remain above normal for this time of year.
The relentless stormy weather is set to last throughout November with the Met Office warning of a stormier-than-usual long range forecast.
Unfortunately there is no sign of things quieting down anytime soon.
