Snow forecast this weekend for parts of Northern Ireland

Sleet and snow could cause disruption for some high ground areas of Northern Ireland this weekend, according to forecasters.

Temperatures are expected to dip on Thursday evening and continue to Saturday as colder Arctic air sets in.

Today: Some bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, these becoming more widespread and occasionally wintry through this afternoon. Eastern counties largely dry this morning. Brisk winds along the north coast. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight: Any showers soon dying out this evening. Thickening cloud will bring some rain and snow into the south during the early hours, but remaining dry elsewhere. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Friday: Rain and snow across the south at first. Otherwise it will be a cold and dry day with some brightness. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Rather cloudy with showers on Saturday. Sunday will be dry with some brightness. Early rain on Monday then bright and mainly dry.
