Forecasters at the Met Office are predicting an upturn in mercury levels this week as Northern Ireland looks set to finally get its first taste of summer.

"High pressure will become established across the UK, which will bring plenty of fine, dry and settled weather, with increasing amounts of sunshine."

"Temperatures on the whole are likely to be around average for time of year, but perhaps becoming warm or very warm for a time on Thursday."

With schools off and lockdown measures beginning to ease it's the perfect opportunity to enjoy some time in the garden or exercise in your local park, while social distancing.

Wednesday is the only blip in the week with cloudier skies expected, but it's still staying mild with a high of 17 degrees.

Many of us will be dusting off our barbecues.... but will the good weather last into the weekend?

If you are out for your daily walk or run on a greenway or towpath please remember to social distance. Stay 2 metres away from other people, be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to give way to others. Visit NI Direct for more information
