Met Office issues yellow weather warning for 65-75mph winds later

Batten down the hatches. Two yellow weather warnings have been issued for Northern Ireland, with forecasters advising that winds could reach gale force later.

"Very strong winds with gusts of 55-65mph, perhaps reaching 75mph in exposed places are looking increasingly likely on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Expect longer journey times by road and air. There is also a chance of power cuts, and damage to trees and buildings."

There is a separate warning in force issued for rain.

"Heavy rain is expected across parts of Northern Ireland later. This may cause flooding on the transport network, with spray and difficult driving conditions likely."

Both Met Office warnings are valid from 4pm today until 10am on Wednesday morning.
