Time to dig out the 'big coat'. After an unseasonably warm start to autumn, forecasters are warning about a potential “shock to the system” to start the new week.

Temperatures are expected to dip with a blast of arctic air set to bring us our first taste of winter.

According to the Met Office; "A band of rain will clear Northern Ireland on Monday evening with surface temperatures falling away behind this and icy stretches likely to form on some untreated surfaces. Wintry showers will push into the country from the northwest overnight, with a few centimetres possible across northern and western counties, especially over higher ground."

It's unlikely any snow showers will settle at lower levels.

The warning which covers all counties comes into affect from 9pm Monday lasting through to 11am tomorrow morning.

With night time temperatures expected to fall below zero, drivers will have to brace themselves for frost in the mornings - worth stocking up on de-icer.

We have had it so good recently, it had to turn cold at some point.

The good news is there are signs of some frost-free milder weather returning in time for the weekend.
