Met Office issues weather warning for heavy rain this weekend ⛈️⛈️

Heavy persistent rain is expected to affect parts of Northern Ireland for the beginning of this weekend, according to the Met Office.

Forecasters have issued a yellow severe weather warning as torrential rain is likely to develop through Friday evening and into Saturday morning across counties Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry~Londonderry & Antrim

"Outbreaks of rain will become heavy and persistent through Friday evening and the early hours of Saturday. Accumulations of 20-30 mm are expected quite widely with isolated 40-50 mm possible across western and northern hills. The rain will clear eastwards through Saturday morning."

The Met Office's weather warning comes into effect from 18:00 on Friday lasting through until 09:00.

"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water leading to longer journey times by car and bus"

"Delays to train and bus services are possible"

We are being told to expect further sunshine and showers in places this weekend with Sunday looking like the better day for outdoor activities.

NORTHERN IRELAND FOUR DAY FORECAST

THURSDAY - 🌦️ - A bright day with occasional showers and some sunny intervals - Highs of 19°C.

FRIDAY & THE WEEKEND - 🌦️ - Windy with some heavy rain developing on Friday. A wet start on Saturday but soon clearing to sunshine and scattered blustery showers for the rest of the weekend - Highs of 15-17°C.

NEXT WEEK - 🌦️ - Rainy spells clearing to a mixture of sunshine and showers to start the new week.
