A man threw an oxygen cylinder at the windscreen of the emergency vehicle while crew treated a man who had been stabbed in Lurgan. It happened just after midnight last night.

In the second incident, a paramedic was assaulted by a patient in north Belfast around two hours later. He was not seriously injured in the attack.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has condemned the attacks.

"We do not believe that they can be excused in any way as they put the safety of our staff and the wider community at risk," they said.
