Weekly Covid-19 deaths fall again in Northern Ireland

13 deaths involving Covid-19 happened last week (20th-26th March), according to the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency.

Their total number of deaths has now reached 2,908.

That's a decrease of 2 deaths from the previous week, were there was 15 deaths.

65.7% of those deaths took place in hospital while 26.5% happened in care homes.

The rest took place in hospices and residential addresses.

The comparative number of deaths reported daily by the Department of Health to 26th March 2021 was 2,108.

These figures are based on patients having previously tested positive for the virus, whereas the NISRA figures are based on the information entered on death certificates completed by medical professionals.

They may or may not have previously tested positive for the virus and therefore include both confirmed and suspected cases, and where Covid-19 was either a contributor to or the main cause of death.
