Two appear in court over Crumlin crash

The two men are due in Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with a list of offences.

Two men will appear in Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday, charged with a list of offences after the seven vehicle collision in Crumlin.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening, causing widespread damage and a number of injuries.

A 22 year old man will face charges including aggravated vehicle taking causing damage to the vehicle, burglary, 2 counts of causing death or grievous bodily injury by driving, disqualified driver, uninsured driver, dangerous driving, driving when unfit through drink or drug, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police, using a motor vehicle without insurance and possession of a class C controlled drug.

A 20 year old male has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking causing damage to the vehicle, allowing self to be carried and possession of a class C controlled drug.

One of the cars involved - a black Audi A1 - had been stolen from Thirlmere Gardens in North Belfast during the early hours of Sunday 1 July.

The crash resulted in damaged walls of nearby houses with flying debris breaking an upstairs window in one of the homes.

An 18 year old female has also been charged with aggravated vehicle taking causing damage to the vehicle.

She is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Wednesday 1st August.

A man is still in a critical condition in hospital following the incident and an ombudsman report is still ongoing.
