Police say they only noticed the fire while carrying out enquirers in the area
Three people and their puppy have escaped injury after a fire in Londonderry.
Police discovered the fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police forced entry and three people were rescued from the flat and firefighters using breathing apparatus rescued a puppy from the kitchen.
Watch commander Kevin Chester commended the actions of the police officers involved and stated that the fire was an accidental fire caused by an unattended cooker.
