Bomb found at end of Belfast security alert

A bomb has been found during a security alert in south Belfast, it emerged today.

Police and Army Technical officers were called to Stanfield Place in the Markets last night after a suspicious object was found.

Inspector Ian McCormick said: “The security alert in Stanfield Place in the Markets area of Belfast has finished.

“ATO attended the scene and have described the suspicious object as a viable device.

“It has been taken away for further examination.”
