'Something for everyone' as sun-baked Balmoral Show opens doors
More than 100,000 visitors expected over four days
The 149th Balmoral Show got under way today – with more than 100,000 visitors from all over the UK are expected to attend from now until Saturday.
More than 600 trade stands are in place at the sun-soaked site with a whole range of livestock competitions taking place over the next four days.
Organiser Rhonda Geary said there was something for everyone.
“We have all the usual very popular things that happen at the show every year including the rare breeds display, the children’s farm and the vintage machinery – all old favourites,” she said.
“It is a great atmosphere – a great family day out.”
She said they had settled well into Balmoral Park on the former Maze site near Lisburn since moving there around five years ago.
“People are becoming more and more famililar with the sight – and it makes for a much better experience for the visitor,” she added
