Body of man in his 20s recovered from lake in Co Tyrone

It’s understood the man, who was in his early 20s, got into difficulty after entering the water in the Carricklongfield Road area of Aughnacloy shortly after 11 last night.

The body of a man has been recovered from a lake in Aughnacloy.

It’s understood the man, who was in his early 20s, got into difficulty after entering the water in the Carricklongfield Road area shortly after 11 last night.

A search operation involving police, NIFRS and Community Search and Rescue volunteers, was immediately launched and sadly a body was located earlier today, (Sunday 2 June).

A PSNI statement said: "Police will make enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death and a post-mortem will take place in due course, however at present the death is not believed to be suspicious.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased."
