Police say they were called to reports of an explosion at the back of a property on Creeslough Court in the Lenadoon area at 8pm last night.

Sinn Fein West Belfast Councillor Arder Carson, says he understands it was a viable device:

“An explosive device was thrown at a home near Carrigart Avenue in Lenadoon.

“This device was thrown in a residential area, populated with young families and elderly residents.

“My understanding is that this was a viable bomb and this is an extremely reckless incident which has place the lives of residents at risk.

“Those responsible have no regard at all for local people.
