The 65 year old man returned to his Rowantree Road in Dromore at about 9.15pm on Tuesday.

A short time later he went to his bderoom where he was attacked by three other men who he believed were lying in wait for him there.

They kicked him in the stomach and groin, forced him to open a safe and took a silver Rolex watch off him.

The assailants then locked the man in his bathroom and also made off with 17 figurines.

The victim had to climb out of his bathroom window and go to neighbours to raise the alarm.

He was taken to hospital, but has no long-lasting physical injuries.

Police have described the incident as "sickening", saying those responsible are "cowardly abominations of human beings."

They are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 101 and ask for detectives in Lurgan.

And the man's son has also made an appeal through social media for help in tracking down the men.

Sam Hunter took to Facebook saying his father was brutally beaten and a large sum of cash was taken from the home.

He also said the watch which was taken had huge sentimental value as it had been a gift from his late mother to his father.
