Police probing a planned armed robbery make six arrests

Police have arrested six men as part of an investigation linked to plans to commit an armed robbery.

The men are aged, 46, 44, 40, 38 and two aged 34. They were arrested on suspicion of robbery-related offences and were taken into custody.

The arrests were made in the Belfast and Lisburn areas.

The PSNI say four of the men were further arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences, including the possession of both cocaine and cannabis.

A police spokesperson also said during searches on Wednesday night and on Thursday four firearms and a taser were seized and sent for forensic examination.

A vehicle and a number of properties were also searched.

A large volume of criminal property including cash and clothing were also collected.

A police spokesperson said: “Information from the public is key in our continued efforts to stop those who profit from illegal activities.

"I would ask anyone with any information which can assist us to target these individuals to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
