Police investigating report of County Down petrol bomb

Police in Bangor are appealing for information after a petrol bomb was thrown at a property on Sunday night.

It is reported that just before midnight a house was on fire in the Skipperstone Road area. Police and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue service attended the alert.

Police say two people inside the property were left shaken, but physically unharmed.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “It is believed that the fire was started by a petrol bomb, which caused extensive damage to the front door of the property, including smoke damage to the inside of the property.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1806 17/09/23.
