Almost 300 iconic global landmarks go green to mark St Paddy's Day

Almost 300 historic attractions in almost 50 countries across the globe, are lighting up in green to mark Saint Patrick's Day 2018.

The initiative is part of Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening campaign to celebrate the island of Ireland and Saint Patrick.

The crusade has been running since 2010 with the Sydney Opera House and Sky Tower in Auckland the only two attractions taking part to begin with.

This year sees exactly 290 landmarks going green with new sites for 2018 listed below:

Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, New York

Tower 42, London

Blue Whale Skeleton, Natural History Museum, London

Emirates Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen

San Mamés stadium, Bilbao

The Venetian hotel, Las Vegas

The Lille Gate, Ypres, Belgium

The Lapland Hotel, SnowVillage, Finland

Zhongyuan Tower, Henan, China
