Pensioner dies following Co Down crash

A man in his seventies has died following a serious two vehicle crash on Tuesday the 5th of September.

Robert Wiseman passed away following the incident which occurred on the Downpatrick Road area of Killough.

Mr Wiseman was driving a grey coloured Peugeot 3008 car which was involved in a collision with a blue coloured New Holland Tractor that was towing a trailer shortly before 4pm.

Officers attended the scene along with our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, Air Ambulance NI and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

He was taken to hospital following the collision but has sadly passed away because of his injuries.

The driver of the tractor sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.

The police investigation remains ongoing, and officers are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the collision or who has dash-cam footage to please contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1231 05/09/23.
