Pensioner charged with attempted murder following Newtownabbey stabbing

The 77 year old suspect is due in court later

A pensioner is due in court in Belfast later charged with attempted murder.

It's after a man in his 60's was stabbed at a block of flats on Rathcoole Close in Newtownabbey on Saturday night.

The 77 year old suspect is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

As is normal procedure, all charges will reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
