P&O Ferries suspends sailings ahead of "major announcement"

All sailings with P&O Ferries have been cancelled 'for the next few hours'.

It comes amid reports the company is getting ready to make a "major" announcement.

It runs a regular service between Larne, Northern Ireland and Cairnryan, Scotland.

P&O Ferries wrote on Twitter: "Regretfully, P&O Ferries services are unable to run for the next few hours.

"Our port teams will guide you and travel will be arranged via an alternative operator.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this will have on your journey plans."

MLA for East Antrim Stewart Dickson said on Twitter, "Concerning news for Larne today urgent and wider afield, need for more information from the Company, workers in Larne called to a meeting"
