Outrage over plans for waste incinerator outside Belfast
There has been a furious reaction after planning permission was granted for a £240m waste incinerator outside Belfast.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed the arc21 facility will be built on the Hightown Road in Glengormley.
In the absence of ministers at Stormont, the decision was taken by civil servants.
However, over 4,000 letters of objection have already been sent to the Department over that plan
The project was previously rejected by former Environment Minister Mark H Durkan, who said that there was no need established for it.
The Department said "it considers that it is in the public interest to take this decision, without further delay, given the strategic importance of the project for the region."
