Oh Yeah Music Centre announces 15 young people selected for the 2023 mentoring programme
15 young people will be mentored across the next year of live music, graphic design, photography, sound engineering, social media marketing and event planning
The Youth Department at the Oh Yeah Music Centre are excited to announce the brand new Volume Control 2023 Events Team.
15 young people will be mentored across the next year of live music, graphic design, photography, sound engineering, social media marketing and event planning in this award winning youth events and industry enterprise mentoring programme.
The aim of the project is to support young people aged 14-19 in developing, planning, and delivering their own live music events by providing mentoring and a dedicated space, that will give them the opportunity, skills and confidence to realise their full potential.
In the process of doing this they also learn about several other elements of working in the music sector from artist liaison and booking acts, to press and promotion, stage management, sound engineering, ticketing, and more.
It is for young people with a real love for local music and gig promotion who would also like to pursue their interests of working in the events or music industries.
Recruitment of a team of up to 15 young people is once a year through an application process.
“Volume Control is fast becoming Belfast’s go-to for live youth music events and we go from strength to strength with every gig.
“The new team have hit the ground running and are already planning ahead for a summer of top quality events, workshops and live music, ensuring 2023 is going to be fantastic for the entire Volume Control community.” - Caoimhe O'Connell, Youth Engagement Officer at Oh Yeah Music Centre.
