New bus lanes for Belfast
Belfast's Rapid Transit System has moved a step closer today with the opening of new bus lanes.
The routes on the Albertbridge Road, between the Newtownards Road and Castlereagh Street, will operate between 7.30am and 9.30am, and 3.30am tp 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
The Department for Infrastructre says the new lanes have alreadly led to significant improvements in East Belfast, with bus passenger numbers up by around 4.5%.
A spokesperson said this latest development would move them further along the line to connecting East Belfast, West Belfast and the Titanic Quarter via the city centre.
It will also help towards meeting a key Programme for Government target of increasing the number of journeys which are made by public transport
