They got caught in adverse weather conditions in Carrick Little, near Annalong just before 12 on Wednesday afternoon.

The cadets, from Cleveland, were at a summer camp, carrying out adventure training.

Multiple emergency services were involved in the operation, including the PSNI, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, three local coastguard rescue teams, Irish rescue helicopter 116 and the UK Coastguard.

The three helicopters were based at Donard Park due to the poor weather conditions.

The group of more than 60 cadets, mostly aged 12 to 17, are accounted for - but some have leg injuries and hypothermia.
