Patients across Northern Ireland are set to face more disruption this week starting today (Monday) as health service worker industrial action continues.

The Belfast Trust is worst affected today with 900 routine outpatient appointments cancelled at Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast City Hospital and School of Dentistry.

And tomorrow Royal College of Nursing and UNISON members will begin a 48-hour work to rule.

That is likely to mean more procedure cancellations and disruption.

Unions rejected a fresh pay offer from health chiefs on Thursday after the Secretary of State brokered new negotiations.

On Friday the Health and Social care board made another apology to patients

UNISON Regional Secretary, Patricia McKeown said the pay offer “does not deliver parity” with the rest of the UK.

And she urged the Secretary of State to “use his influence to secure the full resources needed.”

Meanwhile, the advice remains the same for anyone affected- keep checking the Trusts’ websites for the latest information
