Police have charged a man who allegedly coughed on two police officers after telling them he had Coronavirus.

It happened following a domestic incident in North Belfast yesterday.

The 39 year old is charged with 2 counts of attempting to commit grievous bodily harm.

He’s also charged with common assault in relation to the domestic incident.

The suspect is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates today, however the Department of Justice has told people not to attend court today, with cases adjourned because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

A statement from Justice NI Minister Naomi Long issued last night said,“Members of the public should not attend court tomorrow. While their name may appear on the court list, the default position is that their case will be adjourned without them needing to attend”.
