Man treated for head injuries after Newry assault
A man was taken to hospital after an assault in Newry early today (Monday).
The man, believed to be in his 20s, is being treated for head and facial injuries.
Police are appealing for information following a report of the assault in the Mall area of the city shortly before 2.40am.
It was reported a number of men were fighting in the street.
A spokesperson said: "Officers attended, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and one man, aged in his twenties, was taken to hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including video footage, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 191 of 18/7/22."
Meanwhile, the area remains cordoned off while the PSNI carries out its investigation.
