Man suffers serious head injuries in claw hammer assault

A man in his 30s has suffered serious head injuries after he was beaten with a claw hammer during an aggravated burglary in Lisburn.

Three men forced their way into a flat on Woodbrook Avenue around half 11 on Sunday night.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said:

"Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Lisburn on 101, quoting reference number 1657 of 05/06/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
