Man shot 5 times in west Belfast

It was one of two paramilitary-style shootings in the city last night.

Police are investigating two paramilitary style shootings in north and west Belfast which have left the victims with life-changing injuries.

The first incident happened at around 7.30pm on Sunday night in the Ballymurphy area of the city.

A 41 year old man - who was alone in his house - was shot five times in the legs and arms.

Around an hour later a 26 year old man was also attacked in his Upper Meadow Street home in the New Lodge area.

He received three gunshot wounds.

Both men were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
