Man rescued from Strangford Lough after 'boat steering problem'

A man had to be rescued from Strangford Lough on Saturday morning after being thrown from his motor boat.

It happened shortly before 11am.

The RNLI was called and volunteers headed for a location roughly half a mile from Don O’Neill Island.

The man had been tossed from his boat when it developed sterring problems and started soinning in circles.

He had been pulled clear onto a nearby vessel and taken to shore.

RNLI crews were then able to get his boat under control and tow it in to the marina.
