Man dies in caravan fire in County Down

Police say enquiries are continuing into the incident

Police say a man has died following a fatal fire in Ardglass.

It happened at a caravan in the Killough Road area.

Police say there are no further details at the moment.

A spokesperson for NIFRS said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the loved ones of a man who tragically died as a result of a fire in a caravan in the Killough Road area in Ardglass early this morning, Friday 9 February.

“Two Fire Appliances from Ballynahinch Fire Station and 1 Fire Appliance from Downpatrick Fire Station were called to the scene at 2.40am this morning.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire but tragically a man died at the scene. Firefighters left the incident at 6.25am. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
