Man charged with attempted murder after pensioner stabbed in Newcastle

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a pensioner in his 70's was stabbed in County Down.
It happened in the Main Street area of Newcastle yesterday.
A PSNI statement said, “A 47 year old man has been charged with attempted murder.”
“He is due to appear at Newtownards Magistrates Court on Friday 25th August. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
