Man arrested following report of north Belfast robbery

A man has been arrested following the report of an armed robbery on Friday morning.

Police received a report just after nine o'clock that a man with a machete had gone to a service station on Belfast's Antrim Road and demanded money from staff.

A sum of cash was handed over and the man fled the scene on foot.

A 26-year old man was detained on suspicion of robbery and possession of an article with a blade or point.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed this incident or who may have captured dash-cam footage which could assist us with our enquiries to contact the Reducing Offending Unit in Musgrave on 101.
