The 37-year-old was detained on suspicion of the importation and possession of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop of the PSNI Organised Crime Branch said: "The man was arrested earlier today in the Ainsworth Avenue area of Belfast after great work by District colleagues acting on their investigative suspicions.

“His arrest follows the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of £140,000 by the officers from a nearby vehicle.

“We are also conducting follow-up searches and liaising with other law enforcement partners.

"The seizure again reinforces the determination of PSNI to keep people safe by preventing controlled drugs from reaching the streets.

“I believe it may be linked to an earlier seizure when a 52 year old male was arrested and £200,000 worth of cannabis found at an address in the Donegall Road area of Belfast on 2 March 2017."
