Ballymoney Alliance candidate, Lee Kane is swapping the world of alpaca farming for politics.

While balancing the campaign along with his furry friends and position in a children’s charity, Lee says it has been “great” to be out speaking and meeting new people.

However, with each day of campaigning Lee shared that he has been “going home in the evening to my overgrown, long necked sheep as people have been calling them, the alpacas”.

The 39-year-old adds that he has spent the last number of elections encouraging the public to vote for other candidates, but this year he has decided to take the plunge and run for election.

Lee said, “I think this time I decided no it’s time for me to step up and put my head above the parapet and put my name on a ballot”.

Ballymoney has not had an Alliance councillor since it became a part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Mr Kane said: "We know how great this place is, I’ve said all along. But we know we can make it better”.

The Ballymoney DEA will be counted tomorrow (Saturday 20th May).
