Linfield are working with the PSNI over potential prosecutions following their Champions League qualifying first leg tie with Celtic at Windsor Park just over a week ago.

In a statement on their website, tweeted overnight, the club said they shared “the frustration of the vast majority of our many loyal and genuine supporters who have been rightly appalled by this negative and unwelcome behaviour”

Linfield were handed a partial ban by UEFA and fined £8,850 following incidents in the game on July 14.

The penalties were imposed after objects including a bottle were thrown on to the pitch.

Linfield’s South Stand lower section 1 will be closed for one European game.
