Kasabian cancel Custom House Square gig

The band tweeted on Tuesday night that the cancellation was due to 'illness' and that it was 'with great regret' that they could not perform.

Custom House Square said that they were working on rescheduling the gig.

Concert-goers have been advised to retain their tickets as they would remain vlaid for the new date.

We spoke to one gutted fan, Ciara Graham, who came all the way from Scotland with her boyfriend and family to see the gig:

"We couldn't get to see them when they played in Scotland. So basically we spent two grand coming here with hotels and flights and tickets.

"We got there about 7 o'clock. We watched the supporting acts and there was torrential rain. Then Kasabian's stuff was set up on stage and then there was just an announcement made that they weren't coming on.

"No one believed them and then we went on Twitter and saw it was true. Everyone was raging, the evening was ruined and it was just really horrible because we spent so much money.

"Obviously we are not going going to get that refunded. I know we might get the ticket money refunded, but the chances of me and my family coming over are limited due to the fact that I start University next week and my boyfriend starts college. We were here to see Kasabian and now it's just become a bit of a pointless trip."

Thousands had braved Tuesday night's torrential rain to go to the open air gig and Ciara says the atmosphere turned a bit hostile when the announcement was made the band weren't coming on:

"It was quite horrible. There was loads of people saying 'I've came here from so-and-so because it wasn't just Irish people. There were people from all over - I was on Twitter earlier and someone said they flew from Italy."

Anyone with a ticket for the gig is being told to hold on to it so it can be used at a future date which is yet to be decided upon. But Ciara says that's not much good for her.

"It's not my money. It was a birthday present from my family. And obviously I'm really annoyed about that because they've spent so much to get us here and we've missed the chance to see them.

"It's not anger at the band as such, it's just anger at the fact it was so last minute and the money we've spent.

"It's going to be hard to come unless it's during the weekend because I will be back at university. The chances of coming back are so limited.

"I'm just really gutted and upset. I travel for gigs quite a lot and it's really put me off becasue I don't want to waste all this money just to be cancelled on at the last minute.

"I don't think it's Belfast's fault. These things happen but it's gutting because it's not fair."
