A doctor involved in the Hyponatraemia Inquiry is to be investigated, after a referral by the General Medical Council.

Dr Robert Quinn will face the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service for a hearing on allegations related to those considered by the Inquiry.

A GMC spokesperson said:

‘We have very carefully considered the concerns raised in the Inquiry’s report with external counsel and have decided to open investigations into some of the doctors mentioned. We will consider the evidence in full to determine whether it raises questions about the doctors’ fitness to practise. Investigations are at an early stage and it would be inappropriate to say more at this time to avoid prejudicing the cases."

The hearing of Dr Robert Quinn is set to begin on 25 February 2019.

A summary will be published ahead of the hearing.
